Speaking on recent political realignments in Edo State, Rt. Hon. Chief Joseph Edionwele, the immediate past member of Federal House of Representatives clarified that their defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) should not be seen as a threat, but rather as a strategic step to consolidate and strengthen the foundation of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration. "Our decision to join the APC is not borne out of rivalry or to threaten anyone. It is a deliberate move to unite with our brother, His Excellency Governor Monday Okpebholo, and strengthen the foundation he is laying for a greater Edo State,”_ he stated. Chief Edionwele emphasized that Edo needs unity, not division, to achieve sustainable development. Ephraim Aluobhosele, has strongly dismissed reports claiming the party structure has endorsed a particular aspirant ahead of the forthcoming political contest. Reacting to the development, Rt. Hon. Aluobhosele described the claim as entirely unfounded and not reflective of any formal decision by the party leadership in Igueben. He stressed that no such endorsement was made at any recognized meeting or through any official party channel, and warned against the spread of politically sensitive misinformation.
