Residents of Ekpoma cart away bags of rice from truck that crushed 2 people to death.

By Kingsley Okoirhon
Someone once said, "people live for themselves alone, you'll discover that when you're close to death." I never knew people can be so heartless until I saw a video of what happened on Saturday, 31st of October in Ekpoma, Edo state.

In the late hours of today in Ekpoma town, Edo state, a big truck carrying bags of rice was involved in an accident. The trailer crushed a motorcycle, as seen on the pictures. Two persons coming from a burial ceremony lost their lives in the process and a hawker was severely injured.
Now here's the sad part, the truck was stopped, one of the victims dead body was simply covered with a clothe and left on the road and that was all for hours to late the day got darker. The residents of the area started stealing bags of rice from the trailer that claimed two lives

It was as if nobody died, everyone's attention was simply on the man throwing the bags of rice down from the trailer. If you were at the scene, it was like father Christmas sharing Christmas gifts.
After the residents of the area emptied the entire truck of rice, they set the vehicle on fire.

Is this a result of poverty? No single courtesy for the dead persons. It was in the name of justice that they took all the rice oh the truck and set it on fire, was it in the name of justice that they left a dead body on the road for hours?
