Edo PDP Crisis: Esan North-East Remains PDP Empire, Vowed to Resolved The Mis-understanding Amicably– Archbishob Okosun
The Chairman, Edo Central Senatorial District of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Archbishop Dr. Anthony Okosun says despite the shakings currently ongoing in the party, there is no division in Esan North-East PDP.
According to the clergyman, there is no quarrel beyond the management ability of the LGA party leaders.
Dr. Anthony Okosun who made this known in an interview with pressmen, emphasized that Esan North-East remains a PDP empire, and vowed that the misunderstanding will not exceed this week.
He said, “he is from that Local Government Area. As an individual, let me put it to you that, our LGA is blessed with capable men of timber and caliber, who under the divine inspiration of God, have the capacity to amicably resolve any conflict to the interest of everybody if there is any.”
“At the moment, there is no issue beyond the LGA PDP leaders…Esan North-East remains a PDP empire, and will ever be by the grace of God.”
On the two lists coming from the Local Government Area, Okosun said, “to the best of my knowledge, there are no two lists from my LGA”.
He described what is happening is a normal process of integration being misunderstood by people. The Senatorial District held a meeting and directed all the LGA under it to come up with lists from the different LGAs that should be presented to the digital State Chairman of our party, he added.
“The Senatorial meeting provided a guide that must be followed to the last. So, nothing is expected to be done differently. You should expect that, in trying to do the needful, there is usually a likelihood of a kind of friction.
He assured the party supporters that what happened in the LGA will be put behind us soonest. So, there should be no need to make a mountain out from nothing.”
When asked which side of the factions does he belongs, the clergyman clarified that there are no factions in Esan North-East PDP in the first instance hence, does not belong to any faction rather, he is a member of the PDP.
He also stressed that “even those that joined our party with the Governor are our sons and daughters. We are one. We have to accommodate them in the best interest of our party. We are very happy that they took that very decision to join the largest, and most connected party, not only in Edo State but Nigeria at large. They will strengthen our party and make us stronger than ever. We have no other option but to integrate them into the party.”
In a separate phone conversation with Dr. Okosun the senatorial leader vowed that this misunderstanding will not exceed this week and insisted that Esan North-East will not scatter in his time as the leader.
He said: “You I’m from the same local govt, but I can assure you that these whole issues will not last as I have started making calls since morning. I will call Dr. Onolememen, who has been my personal friend and political leader, as well as all the other stakeholders like Hon. Joe Okojie and the rest for a round table talk within the next 48hrs and have everything resolved”.
The misunderstanding in The LGA will not be allowed to degenerate into an uncontrollable state during my time as the senatorial leader, God forbid”, concluded, the Man of God cum politician.
Similarly, the Vice Chairman of the party from Edo Central Senatorial District sued for peace, and for calm adding that everything will be resolved as quickly as possible.In politics, the interest of everybody is the key to effective and efficient leadership.”
