CHIEF FRIDAY IBADIN COMMENDS ESAN PEOPLE OVER PETER OBI'S VISIT
The official visit of Peter Obi the Presidential candidate of Labour Party to Edo Central Senatorial District of Edo state, shut down commercial activities in Uromi.
The campaign train which arrived in Uromi was received by a mammoth crowd across the land.
Speaking on the success of the visit, a frontline leader in the party, Chief (Barr.) Friday Ibadin was the first to have had a hand-shake with Peter Obi and the National Chairman of the Party and the entourage.
At the Uromi Palace where he was warmly recieved by the Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Anslem Eidenojie II, (MFR) alongside other Enijie in Esanland and their Chiefs.
Bishop Dr. Matthew Akhakon Okpebholo, who donated the Party's Secretariat mansion oferred the opening prayers.
The Presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, in his address to the traditional rulers and people present, said "the problem in Nigeria is that of bad leadership.
"If given the mandate to rule this country, i will change the narrative and take Nigeria from a consumption to a production country".
The Ojuromi of Uromi Kingdom, with the other Enijie of Esanland offered words of wisdom and prayers to him and other Labour Party candidates.
Meanwhile, the Esan enijie presented Esan attire (Igbulu) to Mr. Peter Obi as a symbol of blessings and recognition.
The Igbu was decorated by the enijie of Ewatto and Ugbegun Kingdoms.
According to Chief Ibadin, one of Peter Obi's Presidential Campaign Council and Security Committee leaders of Labour Party both National and State, expressed great joy and commended the good people of Uromi- Esanland, members of the Igbo community and other Nigerians for trooping out in thousands to welcome Mr. Peter Obi.
Ibadin said" the overwhelming and impressive turn out is a clear demonstration of the people's resolve to have a new Nigeria devoid of bad leadership, corruption, oppression, injustice, kidnapping, poor economy, incessant deaths etc.
He explained that he pitched his political tent with the Labour Party because of the antecedents of Mr. Peter Obi, the Party's presidential candidate.
Chief Ibadin who retired meritoriously as a Commissioner of Police, believed that Nigeria needs a good leader with integrity, honesty, experience, maturity, patriotic and visionary that can steer the ship of the nation from the social, political and economic quagmire, adding that Mr Peter Obi has all it takes to rule this country, Nigeria.
He appealed to Nigerians to get their PVC and be prepared to change the narrative by voting with their conscience and only for those who have the fear of God and the people at heart.
Also, Mr Iyoha Francis Awolowo, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of Labour Party in Esan North East Local Government, Uromi who spoke with the press at the event, said that many people were not happy because they had expected Obi to spend some time with them as was earlier announced.
Mr Francis claimed that Obi has been the first presidential candidate to have visited Uromi Kingdom and believed that he is going to be the next president of Nigeria.
He however said that Obi passionately apologized to them and asked them to remain supportive, promising to find a suitable time to come again before the election.
In his response, Mr. Obi thanked the Royal fathers and others present for the honour done to him and assured them that when he is elected as the President of Nigeria after the 2023 general elections, the glory of Nigeria in the socio-political and economic sphere (of Nigeria) would be restored.
High Chief Friday Ibadin, later in a press chat, thanked the good people for the rousing welcome accorded Mr Peter Obi and urged them to vote for the Labour Party during the 2023 general elections for a better Nigeria.
