CHIEF ABEDNEGO GENDON OBOSO INSTALLED AS OIGIAGBE OIGIAMU OF OHORDUA KINGDOM IN GRAND STYLE
A new chapter of hope and progress opened in Ohordua Kingdom as His Royal Majesty, Stephen Ehizojie Oribhabor Ailuogierior I, conferred chieftaincy titles on seven distinguished sons and daughters of Esanland. The historic ceremony took place on Ohordua Cultural Day, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Onogie’s Palace, amid a vibrant display of tradition, dance, and community pride.
In a move that signals renewal and inclusive leadership, the Onogie honoured men and women whose selfless service has shaped Ohordua’s growth. For the first time in recent history, three women were elevated to the prestigious rank of Chief, marking a bold step toward unity and broader representation in the kingdom’s affairs.
The Newly Installed Chiefs of Ohordua Kingdom:
- *Chief Abednego Gendon Oboso* — _Oigiagbe Oigiamu_ of Ohordua Kingdom
- *Chief Anthony Otor* — _Ohenhen_ of Ohordua Kingdom
- *Chief Godday Okoromi Azagba* — _Okalo_ of Ohordua Kingdom

- *Chief Madam Theresa Abhulimen* — _Ononkuedegbe_ of Ohordua Kingdom
- *Chief Madam Christy Inojie* — _Ahu_ of Ohordua Kingdom

The seven chiefs were present to receive their certificates of honour. Chief Gendon Oboso, a Port Harcourt-based oil and gas executive, was filled with joy as he received the special title. He was blessed by the Onojie and the Traditional Council of Chiefs in the presence of friends and well-wishers from far and near. The Onogie noted that the conferment came at Easter, a season when sons and daughters return home — a fitting moment to bind family, culture, and duty together.
By this conferment, Chief Abednego Gendon Oboso, the _Oigiagbe Oigiamu_ of Ohordua Kingdom, is now automatically enlisted into the Ohordua Council of Chiefs (OCC), the advisory body with which the King consults on the administration and advancement of the kingdom. All the newly installed chiefs are now entrusted to live by the dictates of their titles, serving as pillars of peace, development, and cultural preservation.
This royal act, now woven into the evolving Ohordua Cultural Day, goes beyond ceremony. It is a call to service and a renewal of hope that with committed leadership at every level, Ohordua and Esanland will attain greater heights.
May this induction into the Ohordua/Esan Hall of Fame usher in lasting progress, unity, and prosperity for our people.
After the reception in his hometown, Ibhiedu Community in Esan South East Local Government Area, Chief Oboso thanked the good people of Ohordua Kingdom for their support. He also appreciated friends and well-wishers across the board who came to celebrate this historic occasion, praying that God Almighty will continue to bless them and lead everyone safely to their various destinations.
_“Once again, thank you.”_
