IRUA AGOG AS GOVERNOR OKPEBHOLO WELCOMES NEW APC MEMBERS
Irrua, Esan Central LGA, was in a carnival mood as Governor Monday Okpebholo received Senator Engr. Clifford Akhimienmona Ordia, Rt. Hon. Joe Edionwele, and Mrs. Ihenyen, alongside their political associates, who officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the people of Esan extraction, Senator Ordia stressed that governance should focus on development, not needless political squabbles. He noted that when leaders deliver results, they deserve support. He described Governor Okpebholo as both a brother and an effective leader, adding that joining forces with him would accelerate Edo State’s progress.
Rt. Hon. Edionwele assured APC members that their defection poses no threat, but rather offers an opportunity for growth. He emphasized that their move is to strengthen the party’s foundation and contribute to the state’s development, not to scramble for positions.
Mrs. Ihenyen called for unity among the Esan people. She reminded the crowd that both candidates in the gubernatorial race were from the same community, and urged everyone to come together after a winner emerges to work for the state’s advancement.
Responding, Governor Monday Okpebholo warmly welcomed the new members, describing Senator Ordia and Rt. Hon. Edionwele as long-time friends and brothers. He said their shared history makes the partnership a natural fit, and assured all newcomers that the APC is a broad, welcoming platform for everyone.
The highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of brooms — the party’s emblem — to the new members and their supporters, marking their official entry into the APC.
