COMRADE TEGA AMIEGBEHHOR EMERGES CHAIRMAN-ELECT IN ESAN SOUTH EAST, VOWS PEOPLE-CENTERED GOVERNANCE AND 2.5M VOTES FOR TINUBU
The Chairman-Elect of Esan South East Local Government Area, Hon. Patrick Tega Amiegbebhor of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has pledged a people-centered administration and full support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Hon. Tega Patrick Amiegbebhor, who won the Edo State Local Government election held on July 11, 2026, made the pledge shortly after casting his vote at his polling unit in Ugboha, Esan South East LGA.
“What you are seeing today is just the beginning of the mobilization for the 2.5 million votes support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
“The people came out massively because they have faith in me. I know every person in this area and they know me. I will not disappoint them. My priority is to deliver visible development across the 10 wards of Esan South East.”
He added that he would align with the vision of the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to ensure the APC secures the 2.5 million votes target in Edo State for President Tinubu in 2027.
“The Governor is working for the people of Edo State and the people are happy. I will emulate his style of leadership. We will develop every ward, from Ward 1 to Ward 10, and by the time we do well, the people will come out again to vote for our party.”
Also speaking to journalists in Ugboha, APC chieftain, Chief Giwa Agbonmhere said the new Chairman was elected to add value to the people, improve living conditions, and tackle security challenges.
'Security is our utmost concern. People can no longer go to their farms. When there is security, there will be food security. I wish all the incoming Chairmen of the 18 LGAs the courage to work for the welfare of the people,” he said.
In a separate interview at his country home in Ugboha, business leader and political stakeholder in Ward 10, Mr. Jeff Okpoko, said the election was an opportunity for the people to demonstrate their capacity to deliver on the 2.5 million votes target for President Tinubu.
“We have a working Governor — a noiseless Governor who knows the pain of the people and is delivering the dividends of democracy. This election is our way of appreciating him,” Mr. Okpoko stated.
“On security, the Governor has proactively nipped the challenge in the bud. Before now, journalists could not travel from Benin to Ugboha through Uromi without escorts. Today, you came without escorts.”
He further commended the Governor’s strides in education, road infrastructure, and human capital development, and urged residents to support the government.
On the Tinubu re-election project, he said: “It is actualizable. The President has taken bold steps that past governments could not take. The current economic realities are global, not peculiar to Nigeria. We must support a government that is working.”
Mr. Jeff Okpoko called on all incoming Local Government Chairmen to emulate Senator Okpebholo’s people-first approach to governance.
