UROMI, EDO STATE– The Glory of God International Ministry, Uromi Headquarters, held its Annual Men's Day Thanksgiving Service today, Sunday, 16th August, 2026.
The event had in attendance The Pentecostal Archbishop of EsanLand and President of Esan United College of Bishops, Archbishop Dr. Anthony Okosun, JP, who served as Guest of Honour and Guest Preacher.
In his sermon and general pastoral prayer for the church and congregation, Archbishop Okosun called on all members to stand for a special prayer for His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State.
Giving reasons for the special prayer, the Archbishop stated that by virtue of his office as Pentecostal Archbishop of EsanLand, he has a divine responsibility to seek the good of EsanLand which we have started spreading out to the Churches and politians.
He described Governor Okpebholo, popularly known as "Akpakomuza" as "God-sent to build and develop EsanLand and Edo State at large".
Archbishop Okosun further charged Esan people to show appreciation to the Governor by mobilizing massively for President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming elections.
"Let us make Akpakomuza proud before President Tinubu. This is an opportunity for Esan people to stand firm and benefit from federal development. We must support the Governor to deliver the 2.5 million votes promised to President Tinubu for his second term," he declared.
Speaking further, Archbishop Okosun referenced the approval of seven new federal universities across the nation, noting that four were sited in the South West. He likened the development to the biblical story of Joseph, who was sold into Egypt but later became Prime Minister and used his position to secure a place for his brothers.
He urged Esan people to similarly position themselves politically to attract development to the region.
The service concluded with thanksgiving and prayers for peace, progress, and divine guidance for the leadership of EsanLand, Edo State, and Nigeria.
