It's a New Dawn in Igueben Local Government Council As Igeleke Donates 100 Chairs Conference Hall...
The Director of Works at Igueben Local Government Area Council, Engr. Glory Olumese Ighalo has said that it's a new regime of prudent management of the Council's resources which are scare and limited.
The Director of Works stated this in a chat with Esanland Update Magazine, on the new wave of development that's just picking up in the Council Area.
He pointed out that the Local Government Council since the assumption of duty of the new Head of Local Government Administration, HOLGA and acting chairman, Mr. J. O. Igeleke, donated 100 conference chairs for Tom Kimi Hall at the Igueben Council Secretariat and removed the old doors and equipped with the new facilities to boast the staff meetings conference Hall .
Mr. Julian Igeleke the acting chairman that just arrived in a short period of time as the HOLGA of Igueben Local Government, has started feeling the presence of his staff and the community as he also embarked on the renovation of office accommodation of some federal government establishments so as to create the enabling environment for them to render their services to residents of Igueben Local Government Area.
According to Engr. Ighalo, "the DSS wrote us on the state of disrepair of their office, that the roof is leaking, also the National Population Commission because they are all quartered in the same building. But because of paucity of funds, we decided to work on the DSS portion.
"We removed the damaged roofing sheets for that section and then we equally removed the roof members because they were equally damaged; then we re-roofed it with corrugated iron roofing sheets. We also ceiled the area damaged.
"The HOLGA, after seeing the quality of work done, ordered that we re-roof the entire building so that rain will not damage equipment of govermenmet agencies housed in the building."
While enumerating other projects executed since the assumption of Igeleke as HOLGA to include the renovation especially the furnishing of Tom Ikimi Hall at the Council Secretariat; that has been abandoned by the previous administrations over the years
Engr. Ighalo disclosed that staff salaries are paid as and when due adding that he has also paid two months of the backlog of salaries owed the Council workers.
The Environmental Health Officer, Igueben Local Government Council, stated that the council had begun evacuation of refuse in the market of Igueben and Ebelle markets and other places, on the directives of the acting chairman.
He said'' the idea was to promote hygiene and ensure foodstuffs purchased from the markets were healthy for consumption.
