Emu Insecurity Challenges Meeting Strengthens Peace and Unity

The Emu Insecurity Challenges Meeting held on the 31st of May, 2023, strengthened peace and unity in the Emu community.

The Onojie-led Emu Foundation and the Emu Youths Development Association organized the general meeting to discuss important issues affecting the community and the Emu people.
The event was well-organized and concluded successfully without any disruptions.

The meeting was attended by various community leaders from all quarters and stakeholders from the city, which contributed to its success.
Several issues concerning insecurity—especially its impact on farmers, market women, travelers, and passersby—were raised. Participants shared individual opinions aimed at finding lasting solutions to these problems.
His Royal Highness, Promise Aidenojie Imhansemhojie, the Onojie of Emu Kingdom (Ojienojie II), addressed the good people of Emu Kingdom. He urged them to embrace unity and love in the fight against criminals threatening the community’s peace.
He further appreciated the youth president and his team, the Emu Foundation, the chiefs, and everyone present who helped make the event a success.

The Onojie directed all quarters to raise the sum of ₦10 million to boost Emu's security network. Each quarter is to form a committee to mobilize support and share the financial burden between the 1st and 25th of June. The funds will be transferred to the Emu Foundation’s account before implementation begins.

Additionally, cultural values were discussed. It was proposed that the Onojie hold a serious meeting with native doctors within the community and also consult the Esan Enibos to restore traditional methods of resolving crime and illnesses for sustained peace and development.
Other important matters were raised to promote unity and development, with an emphasis on keeping politics out of security matters and speaking with one voice to attract more blessings to Emu.

The Onojie also called on Emu sons and daughters in urban areas to contribute financially. He noted that if those at home could raise ₦10 million, those in the cities should do even more.
Meanwhile, the National President of Emu Youths, Comrade Kingsley Okoirhon, commended the Onojie, community leaders, and those who traveled far to attend the special meeting—something that had not been achieved in years. He extended gratitude to those who could not attend for valid reasons and expressed confidence that the meeting would reach Emu sons and daughters, encouraging collaboration and unity.

He also thanked Mr. Lucky Ebanehita Inegbenehi, the Managing Director of the Edo State Waste Management Board, for personally paying over 35 Emu vigilante members operating under the Emu Foundation—an initiative that has existed for over eight years. He praised Mr. Lucky’s rare commitment to his people and his promise to do even more.

The youth president also acknowledged the support of the Emu Forum based in Lagos and individual supporters whose contributions, though not named, have made a significant difference. He prayed for continued blessings upon them.

He also expressed personal gratitude to those who stood by him in the journey to make Emu Kingdom better.

In a bold move, the Onojie took action against individuals—especially some Igbo farmers—illegally settling in the community under the guise of a Biafra nation. Some were sent back to their states, while others are under police investigation pending a full report to the Emu community.
The Onojie also established the Emu Youths Monitoring and Surveillance Team, convened by the youth president. This team will recruit capable youths from each quarter to work with the vigilantes. Their task will be to monitor those entering Emu Kingdom, verify their purpose, and identify any landlords harboring strangers without proper authorization.
The monitoring team was officially unveiled for the Onojie’s approval and that of the people.

A new military base was deployed to Emu by the Edo State Governor to combat the rising threats from so-called “unknown gunmen” from the East and Fulani kidnappers.
The military leader, Captain Emmanuel expressed appreciation, noting it was his first time witnessing such urgency from a traditional ruler and his people in tackling security challenges.
In his address, the captain warned that anyone found to be an informant for kidnappers or IPOB groups would face serious consequences. He urged Emu youths to rise to the occasion to restore peace and unity, stressing that without their support, the mission could fail.
Mr. Sunday Oshioribhor Personal Assistant to the Onojie (aka Acidi), elaborated on the efforts made by Orakhuan leaders to secure better housing for residents along Ahia Road leading to Orowa and Ebu for safety reasons.

He stated that boundary inspections have been conducted in areas such as Orowa, Iyenlen, Uroh, Oria, and Illushi Kingdoms, in collaboration with the Emu vigilantes, to ensure community security.

Finally, the Onojie welcomed the military and thanked the governor for his timely intervention. He urged the military to collaborate closely with the Emu Security Network for the continued safety of the community.

He also promised regular meetings with chiefs and community leaders to sustain and strengthen the unity necessary for the development he has championed since ascending the throne.
The Onojie thanked God for uplifting his people politically, educationally, and economically. He prayed for all Emu sons and daughters and expressed confidence that under his reign, the community will flourish with development, good health, and prosperity.

The people of Emu continue to receive more blessings under his leadership.
