EWMB URGES EDO RESIDENTS TO EMBRACE PROPER WASTE DISPOSAL TO COMBAT FLOODING AND POLLUTION.

The Edo State Waste Management Board, EWMB, has called on all residents to adopt responsible waste disposal practices to keep the state clean, safe and flood-free this rainy season.
In a statement, the Board said waste bins have been strategically placed across the metropolis for public use and urged residents to sort their waste accordingly:
- Red Bin: Hazardous waste
- Black Bin: Organic waste
- Metal Recycling Cage: Plastics, bottles, cans, and other recyclables
The Board also warned residents against patronizing unapproved waste collectors, indiscriminate dumping, disposing refuse on road medians, and handing waste to cart pushers.“These practices contribute significantly to environmental pollution, blocked drainage systems and flooding,” the statement said.  reminded residents that as the rains continue, proper waste disposal is critical to reducing flood risks and protecting public health.
The Board further noted that improper waste disposal remains an offence punishable by law under Edo State environmental regulations.
Residents are enjoined to cooperate with approved waste collectors and support government efforts to make Edo State one of the cleanest in Nigeria.
